PRIMAL ZODIAC SIGN
SQUID
Scorpio + Pig
Personality
Squids are powerful personalities that can only be ‘checked and balanced’ by themselves. They are highly capable, intelligent individuals who seem to know everything. Generally good natured, they also have a hidden inner dark side which resides deep within themselves. No one is allowed into this secret place, often not even themselves. Squids will even try to bury painful truths within themselves in order to avoid dealing with difficult emotions and situations.
Squids are not confrontational. Like their animal namesake, they are mysterious, powerful, and intriguing individuals who, despite their strength and intimidating presence, are more likely to escape from a difficult or dangerous situation than stay and fight. Except of course, when it comes to finding prey. Those born under this sign, as well as those in the animal kingdom, can go on the offensive with such speed and skill that others don’t realize what has happened until it is all over. Also like the animal, those born under this sign are often categorized as aggressive when they are really more curious. The sheer power and self-control they hold inside radiates out to others and can even scare people away.
Squids are a bit misunderstood this way. Their strong personalities can be misinterpreted easily by those who don’t know them well. In reality, members of this sign are mostly harmless, strongly preferring intellectual discussion and study of the mysterious and unknown than taking part in the gossip or drama of those around them. Squids have strong opinions and emotions, but don’t enjoy delving too deeply into these areas, as these discussions inevitably lead to the pressure to reveal one’s inner secrets or subconscious self. Squids prefer to keep their thoughts to themselves, unless they are certain that those near them share their theories and preferences.
Squids are social but can also spend a great deal of time alone, especially when working. They can be moody and emotionally inconsistent, but they also have a lot of pride and don’t like to show any weakness. They don’t take criticism well, nor do they have a very good idea of how others perceive them. Internally Squids know they are not perfect, but still try to present themselves this way. The most difficult task for this sign will be confronting their hidden inner self. This can be a very challenging and even painful process, but also one of the most powerful in terms of life lessons and self acceptance.
Compatibility
Relationships, even friendships, with Squids can be difficult because of this sign’s unwillingness to share their difficulties, emotions, and insecurities. It is easy to be attracted to this sign due to their mysteriously reserved nature and obvious intellectual qualities, but it is significantly more difficult to understand what is going on inside their minds. Nonetheless, they are loyal and dedicated friends who are always there for those they care about. Just don’t expect to break through their defenses. Just as the squid in the ocean shoots a cloud of ink before they make their escape, so too do those born under this sign hide behind an aggressively protective defense mechanism designed to stun and confuse those who try to exceed their limits.
Romantic relationships can be challenging for this same reason, but if anyone is going to help a Squid release their inner self, it will be a partner. Still, one must be patient and cautious in their approach, allowing for much time and a natural building up of trust. It’s easy to become hypnotized by a Squid’s power and charm, which is what makes it all the more difficult when relationships end abruptly. Squids don’t hold onto anything that doesn’t work for them, including people. Though they can be a bit possessive of those they value, they are also willing to let go of those who don’t see eye to eye with them. Those who leave or abandon a Squid will find themselves permanently exiled from their life. Squids don’t forgive easily.
Though they often think they would like a partner similar to themselves, Squids would do well with a partner who was significantly different from them. Someone intuitive, right-brained, lighthearted, and agreeable can teach them so much about themselves and how to compromise in life. Squids aren’t cheerless loners, they have much joy and passion to share, and need someone who can help them bring it out - at their own pace.
Careers & Goals
Squids have a strong work ethic that stems from their desire to achieve. They have great follow through and rarely abandon a project before it is finished. They would like to be able to do things their own way, but are ultimately more interested in the doing than how it gets done. Members of this sign work long and hard with purpose. They are eager to understand the world around them and thus are very interested in how things work. Though they enjoy scientific analyses and similar pursuits, they are especially intrigued by people and their instinctive interactions with each other and their environment.
A Squid’s determination is matched by very few others, and they often excel in intellectual pursuits, including education. Those interested in a higher education should pursue it if it helps them get to where they want to go. They are highly intelligent and capable of performing most tasks, so the real challenge will be finding a career that speaks to them on a deeper level.
Ultimately Squids need a purpose to focus their immense energy on, and should continue to pursue that which is most meaningful to them rather than simply choose a career for money or status, which Squids are strongly attracted to, along with power over others.
Good career options for Squids include: Doctor, Researcher, Scientist, Lab Tech, Veterinarian, Surgeon, and Detective.
